With the region dealing with frigid temperatures, the volunteer fire and EMS members of the Second District Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad were dispatched for a structure fire at a single-family residence on Drayden Road at 0939 Sunday January 7th.

The initial dispatch advised fire and smoke were visible with no one trapped inside.

47 firefighters and three SDVFDRS EMS personnel were on hand from Bay District, Second District and the NDW Patuxent River Fire Department to extinguish, then conduct salvage and overhaul.

Apparatus from Leonardtown and Ridge handled other calls from the Valley Lee firehouse during the 1.5-hour call.
