On Sunday, 2-23-2020 at 0234 hrs., the SDVFD&RS, Bay District VFD, Lexington Park VRS, and SMC Advanced Life Support were dispatched for the report of a serious motor vehicle accident in the vicinity of 19475 Piney Point Road, Valley Lee, with subjects trapped. Squad 6 with Chief 6A (Henderson) responded, and while enroute were notified by an EMT (Abbott) on the scene that MSP Trooper 7 would be needed to transport the patient. Upon arrival, Chief 6A assumed the Piney Point Road Command, and confirmed 1 patient entrapped with what appeared to be serious injuries. Operations to stabilize the vehicle and extricate the patient began. Squad 3 arrived and assisted with these efforts as well. Ambulance 68 (EMS Captain 6 K. Stauffer) arrived shortly thereafter and began efforts to stabilize and provide care for the patient. Engine 61 with Captain 6A (Windsor) arrived and assisted with extrication, and covered the Landing Zone for Trooper 7. The patient was extricated and ready to transport within 10 minutes. Trooper 7 transported the patient to a local trauma center. Squad 6 remained on the scene for approximately 1 ½ hours to assist the MSP Crash Reconstruction Team with lighting, etc. Information submitted by Assistant Fire Chief Lyn Henderson.
