On Friday, March 20, 2020 at 1328 hrs., the SDVFD&RS was alerted for an outside fire at 17558 Piney Point Road in Piney Point. The fire apparently started from a controlled burning in the area. Within minutes Brush 6 with Captain 6 (D. Walker), Tanker 63 with Chief 6A (Henderson), and Engine 61 with Captain 6A (Windsor) responded. Brush 6 arrived on scene advising of a brush fire out of control. Tanker 63 arrived on scene shortly after and supplied water. Engine 61 arrived and assisted Brush 6’s crew with getting to the head of the fire. Additionally, Engine 61’s crew utilized the bumper line off of Tanker 63 to apply Class A foam.
The fire was placed under control within about 15 minutes of arriving on scene. Units remained on scene for additional mop up and then returned in service.
