On August 12, at 0605, the SDVFD&RS was alerted for a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles with subjects trapped at 20400 Piney Point Road at Take it Easy Ranch Road. Squad 6 responded with Chief 6A (Henderson) and 2. Chief 6A immediately asked for an additional engine for manpower. Squad 6 arrived on the scene confirming two vehicles in the roadway, and 2 subjects trapped. The crew from Squad 6 began extrication and shortly after engine 32 and Squad 7 with Chief 7B arrived and began assisting with the extrication. The driver and passenger of one of the vehicles were both were flown by Trooper 7 and Trooper 2 to local Trauma Centers. Additional units on the scene were Ambulances 68, 398, 498, and Medic 4. Engine 92 handled the landing zone for the helicopters.
