Working House Fire at McKay's Beach, Valley Lee

On April 3, 2021 at 0752 hrs., the Second District VFD&RS was alerted for a structural fire located at 18774 Mckay's Beach Rd. Valley Lee. Chief 6 (Henderson) arrived on the scene and advised St Mary's County Emergency Communications of a working fire, and established the McKay's Beach Road Command. Engine 61 arrived shortly with lieutenant 6A and the crew was tasked to pull a 1 3/4" attack line and advance through the front door. Chief 3B arrived on the scene and was assigned Operations. The fire had started in the electrical circuits of the furnace area and extended up the wall into the attic. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes. Engine 61, Tanker 63, Truck 3 and ambulance 68 remained on the scene for approximately an additional 1 hour.
