On January 20, 2023 around 19:52hrs the SDVFDRS was alerted for a motor vehicle accident reported serious in the area of Denton Rd and Piney Point Rd. Within minutes Chief 6 (B. Windsor), Captain 6 (C. Henderson) and Water Supply 6 (D. Walker) were responding to the scene. Moments later, Squad 6 responded, Captain (J. Hayden) total of 6 personnel, Engine 61, Lieutenant (M. Rogers) total of 3 personnel and Ambulance 69. Water Supply 6 arrived on scene with 1 vehicle off the roadway into a pole. Water Supply 6 advised patient was still inside. Captain 6 also arrived on scene and assumed the Piney Point Road Command advising that there was no entrapment the patient has self-extricated themself. Command asked for SMECO to respond to the scene. The MVA had involved a powerline and had broken the powerline pole. Command advising to hold it with Squad 6, Engine 61, Ambulance 69 and ALS only and can return all other units. Patient was evaluated by EMS on the scene and released with a sign refusal.
