The officers and members of the Second District Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad, Inc. are proud to announce that past member Anthony Grant, has been appointed as a Firefighter/EMT with the Columbia, SC Fire Department. Tony began his fire service tenure as a junior member volunteer firefighter here at Valley Lee. After successful completion of 18 weeks of firefighter recruit training, Tony graduated on 5/25/2023. Following graduation, Tony was assigned to Engine Company 8, Shift 2, at the Atlas Road station. His first official shift at work was 5/29/2023. Tony is a second-generation career firefighter, as he is the son of current SDVFD&RS member/Past President Robert Grant, who retired from the Howard County, MD Department of Fire & Rescue Services.
