August 25, 2025
On Monday, August 25, members of the Second District Volunteer Fire Department & Rescue Squad (SDVFDRS) participated in a joint training evolution held at Webster Field Annex in St. Inigoes. The Naval District Washington Fire Department (NDWFD) hosted the drill, which brought together NDWFD, Ridge Volunteer Fire Department, Bay District Volunteer Fire Department (9), and SDVFDRS.
During the exercise, companies worked hand-in-hand to establish multiple water sources to supply several elevated master stream devices. This scenario not only challenged participants’ skills but also highlighted the importance of teamwork and coordination between departments.
Opportunities like this allow our members to strengthen their abilities while building new relationships and reinforcing existing ones with our neighboring departments.
The SDVFDRS extends our sincere thanks to NDWFD for hosting this valuable training and for inviting us to participate!
Looks like a very well planned, well.coordinsted event!! Awesome job working with NDWFD as well. We have worked with NDW on past events, as well as other Federal FD partners across the state, and always find them to be very willing to train and support the efforts in any way possible.
I wish we had known about this event prior to it occurring, we would have loved to attend, or even assist in coordinating it with you. Plus, we always enjoy seeing how various departments do things when it comes to Water Supply, and we have yet to attend an event where we have not learned something new or different.
Please keep us in mind when planning any future Water Supply training pf any kind, we are always ready to support and assist in any way we can. If you have anynother events coming up before the end of 2025, please let us know ASAP, we currently have a sponsor that is supplying all of the LDH and 3
