The Second District Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue Squad (SDVFD&RS) has entered a contract with the local solar energy firm, Energy Select to install a ground mounted solar energy system! Energy Select, located in Leonardtown MD, will install a 300 kW system for the Department consisting of 700 plus solar panels. Firefighters Sharpen Vehicle Fire Skills

On Wednesday, February 25th, the SDVFD&RS and mutual aid companies were alerted to the 20800 block of Callaway Village for a reported laundromat fire with subjects trapped. Engine 61 arrived on scene to find a one-story strip mall structure with nothing evident from the exterior. Chief 6 arrived shortly after and assumed command.
